When you are looking for large artwork for walls, a single large original, painted by hand and unique, becomes the still point of the room: the furniture, the light and the materials fall into place around it. Every large piece in Adriana Fernández’s Mediterranean Collection 2026 was painted in acrylic in her studio in Ibiza town, with layers of matter and relief that change with the daylight. Each one is signed and arrives stretched on a wooden stretcher, ready to hang.
One oversized statement piece or a picture wall of colourful small ones?
Fill a wide wall with several small pictures, however colourful, and the eye jumps from one to the next. With one large piece the opposite happens: the eye rests. The work sets the scale of the whole room, anchors the furniture and gives the space personality at first glance. In open-plan spaces, under high ceilings or on bare walls, big art for big walls avoids the emptiness that objects alone never solve. It gives you the scale of a mural with the depth of an original.
- A clear focal point: the room gains hierarchy and calm.
- Proportion: a large wall asks for a work at its own scale, not a mosaic of wall pictures.
- A unique original: signed by the artist, never a print or a reproduction.
Abstract wall art painted by hand: texture you see from across the room
This is the part that can’t be printed. A photo flattens texture; mass-produced decor is flat and fills space without giving it character. In Adriana’s originals the paint has body: acrylic is combined with textured matter, relief, bitumen of Judea and asphalt paint, and raking light changes the piece through the day. More on this in textured paintings with relief.
Ready to hang, no frame needed
Each signed work comes on a wooden stretcher, and the paint and texture continue around its edges, so it looks finished from the side and goes straight on the wall.
Her language is organic rather than geometric: horizons that blur, coastal erosion, the line where land meets sea. These are pieces designed to sit with contemporary architecture, interior design and wellness spaces, not to fill a gap.
How to size large wall art for living rooms: the wall, the furniture and the space around
There is no magic number: the best large wall art is simply the one at the right scale for its wall and the furniture below it. These guidelines help the room feel balanced:
- Above a sofa or sideboard: aim for a work roughly two-thirds to three-quarters of the furniture’s width. Over a 220 cm sofa, a painting 140 to 160 cm wide sits well.
- On an empty wall: let it cover about half of the free surface, leaving breathing room around it.
- Hanging height: place the centre of the work at around 145–155 cm from the floor, roughly at eye level.
- Gap above the furniture: leave 15–30 cm between the furniture and the bottom edge, so the painting relates to it.
Silencio de Horizonte is 160×80 cm; Materia Serena, 140×70 cm; Geografía del Alma, 139×90 cm; Límites and Horizontes, 130×75 cm; Horizonte en Calma, 120×90 cm; and Equilibrio en Pétalos and Límite Natural, 120×80 cm. For squarer walls there are Costa de Ibiza and Profundidades, both 105×104 cm. And if your wall asks for more, Adriana regularly paints formats up to 2 metres wide and, on commission, larger still.
Horizontal, vertical or diptych: choosing the format
Horizontal and panoramic: the classic over the sofa
A wide format stretches the wall and follows the line of a bed or a sideboard. Landscape pieces with a horizontal sweep such as Silencio de Horizonte, built from textures and acrylic glazes, echo the Mediterranean horizon itself.
Vertical: to gain height
On narrow walls, beside a staircase or under high ceilings, a vertical work lifts the eye. If your wall asks for vertical wall art, a commission lets you plan the format to measure.
Diptychs: one extra large work in two panels
A diptych spreads the composition across two panels that read as one, adds rhythm and is easier to handle than one huge stretcher. Equilibrio en Movimiento (two vertical panels of 50×70 cm), inspired by the fluidity of water, and Equilibrio (two of 60×50 cm) are good examples. Leave about 5–10 cm between panels.

Bedroom: soft tones for a minimalist retreat
A horizontal piece above the bedhead brings serenity; soft, neutral tones and gentle textures support rest.
Home office: a calm office wall
If you work from home, one large work on the office wall gives a calm backdrop to video calls.
Dining room and entrance hall
Here one big canvas unifies the space and sets the tone as you walk in. Living room, bedroom, office: the same rule applies, let one piece lead and keep the rest of the home decoration quiet.
Beige, coastal blue or deep contrast: matching your home decor
- Neutral and earthy palettes: sand, off-white, ochre and warm grey sit easily with wood, stone and linen, and suit a minimalist interior.
- Mediterranean blues: for a room that looks towards the sea; see the sea paintings for more.
- Deep contrasts: bitumen of Judea and asphalt paint add depth to pale walls.

See your new wall art in your own interior before you decide
The most common mistake with large wall art is going too small, or too big; the surest way to avoid it is to see it. Send a photo of your wall and Adriana replies personally within 24 hours, with advice and a realistic simulation of the piece at its real scale, next to your furniture. Request your wall simulation through the form, in English.
And if nothing in the collection fits, you can commission a painting to measure: size, composition and palette designed for your room, with the same language and techniques. You deal directly with the artist, with no middlemen; payment is by Bizum or bank transfer, and delivery reaches anywhere in Spain with professional packaging.
